Merchant – a aggregated payment processing gateway

Background, tasks and aim

The payment processing is an easy thing, when you have one or few payment systems (e.g. PayPal, Stripe) integrations. The more systems you integrate, the more pain you gain:

• Different payments APIs
• Different success payment notifications
• Different fees and their combinations
• Different currencies. Especially when you want to charge your customer in a different currency than payment system processes the payments.

Another common problem is payments integration on different points of sale (websites, control panels etc): you either need to re-implement payments processing form time to time, or use a Merchant.

The key goal is to create a payment processing gateway that encapsulates differences in payment systems integration and provides unified API.

It is expected, that the Merchant will covers only a subset of features of each payment system, and the initial implementation covers only the main business requirements, however the number of supported features may be increased in future.
